OUR STORY

Founders

The word Landet translates to the “the countryside” in Swedish, but it also holds a much greater meaning. “Going to Landet” means retreating to a personal sanctuary – a cottage or second home outside the city, leaving the hustle and bustle of daily life to enjoy nature, calmness, and often a simpler way of living. That is the essence of what we want to offer. More than just a destination: Landet is about creating lasting memories in a place which is comfortable, welcoming and has a sense of place.

We have had the luxury to spend most of our lives living in vibrant cities around the world – but city life can be hectic and at times overwhelming. What really makes us thrive is the tranquillity that only nature can offer. However, the allure of a rural escape can be elusive. Traditional country hotels often lack character and freedom, and owning a rural property is a financial, administrative and environmental burden. That's why Landet was born.

Our aim is to simplify life while preserving comfort, adding a touch of elegance and, above all, maintaining our respect for nature. Every design detail has been inspired and guided by our desire to bring nature closer, and to enhance your Scandinavian experience.

01

LEAVE NO TRACE

We would not be who we are without our eco-friendly design, which is at the core of our strategy. We see ourselves as guests of the beautiful nature around us, so the cabins and all our systems are designed to be entirely removable.

02

MATERIAL CHOICES

From avoiding the use of concrete in the foundations, to the use of responsibly sourced Scandinavian wood and recycled glass for our floors, all materials have been chosen for their high respect for nature.

03

SYSTEMS

Construction follows Sweden's permanent living standards, which have very stringent requirements. Our windows and insulation materials offer the highest levels possible of energy efficiency.

04

NATURE

To minimise the impact on our surroundings, the cabins and terraces float on 100% recyclable plinths. Even external installations (such as paths and lighting) are thoughtfully designed to be as "light touch" as possible.

Dawn at Landet

SUSTAINABILITY

We want your stay at Landet to be memorable for you, but leave as small a footprint as possible on the environment. Our materials, construction technology, energy and plumbing systems have all been chosen to minimise impact. When the time comes for Landet to move on, we have already ensured that our surroundings can be restored to exactly how they were before we got there - this is what we call our "leave no trace" philosophy.
